Back in December of 2010 a gentleman from here in the lower mainland sent me an email inquiry to have a custom job done for him. Being that I don’t sell previously branded attire, I was unable to satisfy his request for a light up RUSH t-shirt. I emailed him back and let me know that if he was willing to get the shirt that he would like to have worked on and send it over to me I would be happy to deck it out for him.
To my understanding, when RUSH performs, they look for crowd members that really stand out. Sometimes, they’ll even be invited on stage. I love it – and when this particular customer contacted me again in February I was thrilled that he remembered I could work on this sweater for him. Unlike my usual Christmas Sweater theme, we sat down and focused on what could be best done to the shirt to better accentuate the RUSH logo. We ended up choosing a circle of red lights around the top of the logo. I also took the time to extend the battery pack wires so that he could fit in to his pockets when he was ripping it up on the dance floor.
When he came by to pick up the custom shirt, I was glad to hear that he was really happy with it. I hadn’t had much experience with t-shirts as light up Christmas sweaters usually have thicker and more malleable fabric, but this one really worked out.
